As You Like It is Shakespeare’s romantic romp in the woods. The characters chase each other through the forest of Arden, looking for love in all the wrong places – and sometimes in the right ones. Rosalind disguises herself as a boy to teach Orlando how to be a husband, Touchstone the clown lustily pursues the shepherdess Audrey, and Silvius pines after the unattainable Phebe, who mistakenly falls in love with Rosalind dressed as a boy! In this production, we do a bit of extra gender-bending, with women playing some of the male characters (and even transform some male characters into female ones). This is also Shakespeare’s most musical play, with a number of songs and a final dance.
