Thanks for your interest in auditioning for the Baltimore School for the Arts!
Admission is based solely on an audition and an interview. Current 8th and 9th grade students may audition in one or two art areas: Dance, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Film and Visual Storytelling, Theatre, Stage Design and Production, and Visual Arts.
Auditions have passed for the 2019-20 school year. In Fall 2019, we will begin the process for the 2020-21 school year.
Here’s how it works:
First, every fall we have an Open House. Come if you can! We’ll walk you through the process and answer any questions you may have.
Second, complete an application form to request an audition. Applications are due the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
Third, audition appointment letters will be mailed the last week of December. Auditions will be held January 2020.
Below are the instructions for the audition process for the 2019-20 school year. However, there tends to be a great deal of similarity in instructions from year to year. The audition instructions for the 2020-21 school year will be released Fall 2019.
Our optional Shadow Day program enables you to visit art classes and get the inside scoop on what life is like as a BSA student.
