    Parent Meeting

    December 19, 2017 at

Learn about what’s going on at BSA. We will also elect parents to the Parent Advisory Group. This group plays an advisory role on a policy level regarding our budget allotment from Baltimore City Schools’ district office. There are 10 members of this group, and they represent all five of the art majors here.

If you are interested or know someone interested, please submit a short statement to me as to your desire to serve in this capacity and any other important information by the COB on December 18.

    ABOUT THE PARENT ADVISORY GROUP:

In order to improve communication within the community of BSA parents and to address initiatives of the BCPS Office of Family and Community Engagement, BSA will have a Parent Advisory Group for the 2017-2018 school year.  The sole role of the Parent Advisory Group is discussing and approving the school’s BCPS “Fair Student Funding” budget plans over the course of the school year. It is expected that this Advisory Group will hold two to three meetings over the course of the spring semester.

Nominations and self-nominations to be a part of the Parent Advisory Group need to be received by 12/18. Please send them to Imbie Tamba @ itamba@bsfa.org.

From these nominations, 10 parents will be elected to form the Parent Advisory Council (two parents representing each artistic area) at the General Parent Meeting on December 19 at 6:30 pm. Nominees are asked to submit a short statement expressing why they’d like to be elected. These statements will be distributed to parents at the meeting prior to the election.

The term of service for each member will be one year, with the possibility of a repeat term (if re-elected). Membership in the Parent Advisory Group does not constitute membership in the BSA Board of Overseers. This group will be chaired by a Board of Overseers member who is also a current BSA parent. The chair of the Parent Advisory Group will be appointed by the Chair of the Board of Overseers.
