    BSA Students Discover Letter of Former Slave

    Baltimore School for the Arts’ theatre students partner with the National Park Service every year to produce original historical re-enactments. During some research for this project in early 2016, BSA students learned about a woman named Sybby Grant, an enslaved cook of the Hackerman House who lived during the 1800s. The Hackerman House is now part of the Walters Art Museum, and students forwarded their findings to the staff. The Walters made the decision to honor Grant in its newly renovated property.
