Dance - Each applicant will participate in a brief dance movement class as part of the audition. For the audition, wear a leotard or close-fitting shorts and tee shirt. Legs should be bare with socks on the feet--no skirts or leg warmers. Ballet slippers or socks are required. No pointe shoes. Loose-fitting clothing or jewelry should not be worn. Hair should be securely pinned back. The audition takes about two hours. Students entering grades 2-8 in September can audition.

School Matinee Performances - Each year, BSA invites students from Baltimore City public schools to attend free matinee performances at the BSA. For many students, this is their first experience of a live performance. BSA develops pre- and post-performance activity packets that are sent to teachers in advance to enhance the experience for the students.

Public Performances and Exhibitions - Throughout the year, BSA offers theatre and dance performances, music concerts, and art exhibits to the general public, families and children. Ticket prices are affordable ($6.00 - $10.00). Special performance guides and backstage events often accompany the shows.
