TWIGS Director - Georgia King

Georgia King has a BA and Masters Equivalent from Towson University and Maryland State Advanced Professional Certification.  She worked for 20 years in Baltimore City elementary schools teaching early childhood grades, special programs including Early Admissions and the Model Early Childhood Learning Program, and at the BCPS headquarters as an educational specialist writing curriculum, developing programs, and training teachers.  She was part of the team under the leadership of Alice Pinderhughes to consolidate all early childhood programs into one comprehensive Early Childhood Education Program.   She became the coordinator of the TWIGS program in 1994 and under her leadership the program has steadily increased enrollment, added departments, and added grade levels in all of the arts disciplines.  In 2006, the TWIGS program was awarded the Community Partnership Award by the International Network of Schools for the Advancement of Arts Education.

TWIGS Program Assistant - Iris Andersen

Iris Andersen graduated from Baltimore School for the Arts and holds a BFA in dance from the California Institute of the Arts. While attending CalArts, she was nominated for the Princess Grace Award and studied abroad at the London Contemporary Dance School. From 2004 to 2011 she danced with the Francisco Martinez Dancetheatre, performing concert works as well as outreach lecture demonstrations in Los Angeles and South Bay schools. Her award-winning choreography has been featured on stage and on film. Iris was a principle dancer and faculty member with Pasadena Dance Theatre in Pasadena, CA, from 2003 to 2011. In addition, she served as Operations Manager of PDT, overseeing the company’s Dance Conservatory and assisting in the coordination of studio and company productions, outreach performances and marketing. 

TWIGS School/Parent Liaison - Michael Solomon

Michael Solomon has a degree in English from Harvard College, and is the author of several books. He began working at BSA in 1989, as a substitute teacher, and joined the TWIGS staff in 2001.
