Students Take Part In Eye-Opening Trip To Ghana

Sixteen students from the Baltimore School for the Arts and four faculty advisers spent a week in Ghana to learn about the diversity and complexity of West African arts and culture.

The student-artists worked with similarly aged Ghanaian students and professional artists in theatre, dance, and music. They explored traditional Ghanaian woodcarving, textile production, and basket weaving. The students also visited African museums, universities, and cultural landmarks, traveling through Accra, Aburi, Nima, the Cape Coast, Elmina, and Kumasi. Mike Schuh of WJZ reports.
