Visting Artists


Baltimore School for the Arts graduate and international conductor will lead the BSA Orchestra in its major performance of the spring semester.  Andrew will bring his expertise as a conductor and string player to our students in a series of intensive rehearsals for 3 days prior to the concert.  He will lead works by Ravel, Beethoven and Mozart in the concert on April 5th at 7 pm.

Maryland Native Andrew Grams is one of America’s most promising and talented young conductors. Mr. Grams began conducting at the age of 17, and received his Bachelor of Music in violin performance from the Juilliard School in 1999. In 2003, he received his conducting degree from the Curtis Institute of Music where he worked with Otto Werner Mueller. He has served as the Resident Conductor of the Florida Orchestra and Assistant Conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra and has made appearances with orchestras all over the world including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony, the St. Louis Symphony, the National Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia Rome.


Andrew Grams just completed his three-year term as Assistant Conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra/American Symphony Orchestra League Conducting Fellow.  As Assistant Conductor in Cleveland, Mr. Grams assisted Franz Welser-Möst, conducting subscription, tour and educational concerts and summer events.  Mr. Grams appeared as a guest conductor with the Dallas and the Charlotte symphonies and also has worked with the Saint Louis, Fort Worth, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Delaware and Jacksonville (FL) symphonies. Mr. Grams makes his Chicago and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra debuts this season.
