We are currently seeking three faculty members for the Academic Department, a technical director for the Stage Design and Production team, and a program manager for the Music Department.

 

Faculty Members

The Baltimore School for the Arts, a public arts high school, seeks a full-time physics teacher, a full-time math teacher, and one long-term math substitute teacher in its Academic Department. 

Successful candidates for the full-time positions will have excellent content knowledge and the ability to communicate this knowledge to students in interesting and creative ways. The candidates will also possess a strong desire to collaborate with peers in academia as well as the performing arts. 

Successful candidates for the substitute position will have a strong knowledge of geometry and basic high school level math concepts.

Technical Director

The Baltimore School for the Arts, a public arts high school, seeks a part-time Technical Director. The successful candidate will have excellent skills in theatrical set construction, carpentry, stage rigging, working with young people, and collaborating with a variety of performing artists. The position also requires knowledge of basic stage lighting, audio reinforcement, and video projection practice. The technical director is responsible for teaching set construction and basic rigging, teaching an introduction to theater organization and practice, and teaching a theater history class. The T.D. also assists with the maintenance of the performance spaces, and supervises set construction and installation for two plays and various other productions of the Theater and Dance Departments. This person works with the production manager in implementing the instructional and performance programs in the school and will also supervise running crews for some rehearsals and performances outside of the hours of the regular school day.

This is a part-time contractual position (25 hours per week) with a starting pay rate of $33.50 per hour. The technical director teaches 16 hours per week and has nine hours per week of time accrued to be used on rehearsals and performances. The position is ideal for a theater artist who values some flexibility in work schedule and who enjoys interacting with young artists.  Interviews for this position will commence immediately.

Program Manager, Music Department

The successful candidate will have excellent computer skills, good time management skills, and work well with a wide variety of people. An ability to manage simultaneous, multiple projects is necessary.  The program manager is responsible for purchasing, record-keeping, scheduling, and many other daily operational duties. This person assists the Music Department head in organizing the instructional and performance programs in the school. The program manager will also assist in performance production.

This is a part-time contractual position (30 hours per week) with a competitive pay rate. This position is ideal for a musician who values some flexibility in the work schedule. Interviews for this position will commence in June. The position will begin on August 28, 2017.
