We are currently seeking two faculty members for the Academic Department and a technical director to join the Stage Design and Production team.

 

Faculty Members

Baltimore School for the Arts is looking to fill two open positions in our Academic Department that would include a combination of science and math courses. We are looking for a chemistry certified teacher who would also enjoy teaching some math or some biology courses. We are also looking for a math certified teacher who may enjoy teaching some biology or chemistry courses. We are willing to work with a candidate's desired strengths to make a teaching schedule work. Technical Director

The Baltimore School for the Arts, a public arts high school, seeks a part-time Technical Director. The successful candidate will have excellent skills in theatrical set construction, carpentry, stage rigging, working with young people, and collaborating with a variety of performing artists. The position also requires knowledge of basic stage lighting, audio reinforcement, and video projection practice. The technical director is responsible for teaching set construction and basic rigging, teaching an introduction to theater organization and practice, and teaching a theater history class. The T.D. also assists with the maintenance of the performance spaces, and supervises set construction and installation for two plays and various other productions of the Theater and Dance Departments. This person works with the production manager in implementing the instructional and performance programs in the school and will also supervise running crews for some rehearsals and performances outside of the hours of the regular school day.

This is a part-time contractual position (25 hours per week) with a starting pay rate of $33.50 per hour. The technical director teaches 16 hours per week and has nine hours per week of time accrued to be used on rehearsals and performances. The position is ideal for a theater artist who values some flexibility in work schedule and who enjoys interacting with young artists.  Interviews for this position will commence immediately.
