Emily Socolinsky
Class of 1992, Dance
Emily is a certified Starting Strength Coach, AFAA certified, USA Weightlifting certified Level 1 Sports Performance Coach, and cycle certified through Madd Dogg Athletics. Emily holds a Masters degree in Education and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from the University of Maryland at Baltimore County. As a fitness coach and mentor, she has helped many clients explore their true potential through hard work and persistence.Emily has been active as a professional dancer and teacher for over 16 years. During that time, she has focused on strength training and a variety of cross-training methods that helped her grow and develop as a dancer and athlete. She began her dance training at the early age of 8 at the Baltimore Ballet and developed her training further at the Baltimore School for the Arts. She continued her dance studies at UMBC where she had the opportunity to study with a variety of dance professionals. Emily has performed with the Phoenix Dance Company, Nancy Romita and the Moving Company, Doug Hamby Dance, The Collective and Kinetics Dance Theatre.Links:

Emily Socolinsky began her early ballet training with Wendy Robinson at The Baltimore Ballet and continued her training in the T.W.I.G.S. program at the Baltimore School for the Arts. Emily is a graduate of the Baltimore School for the Arts and received a BA in Visual and Performing Arts/Dance from the University of Maryland at Baltimore County. Upon graduating from UMBC, Emily worked as an intern in Production Administration at the Juilliard School in New York City and remained at Juilliard an additional year to work as the Wardrobe Supervisor for all theatre, dance and opera productions. After working as the Wardrobe Supervisor for Center Stage for one season, Emily returned to school in 2000 to pursue a Masters degree in Education through the Urban Teacher Education program at UMBC and taught in the Baltimore City Public School system for five years. In June 2006, Emily accepted the position of School Director at Kinetics Dance Theatre, a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and presentation of contemporary dance as a living art form to the community where she worked until June 2011. Emily left her position as School Director to open her own business, Fivex3Training, a strength and conditioning gym in Baltimore, right in the heart of Harbor East. In addition to running her gym, she also teaches part-time for the TWIGS program at the Baltimore School for the Arts. Emily has danced with the Phoenix Dance Company, Nancy Romita and the Moving Company, Doug Hamby Dance, the Collective and Kinetics Dance Theatre's Professional Company. She joined DVDC in August 2011.
